About this course

AI now shows up in the apps we use every day, from maps and online shopping to payment alerts and the assistant inside WhatsApp. This course explains what is actually happening behind those features in plain, non-technical language, so that you can use AI with confidence, explain it to others and make informed decisions about it.

The course also covers privacy and consent, an introduction to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, fairness and bias, and how AI is changing study and work. You finish by preparing an AI awareness guide or talk for your family, school, office or community group.

How the course runs

Weekend classes on Google Meet mix short explanations with activities and discussion. You try AI assistants in English and Indian languages, watch a simple model learn from examples, and look at real patterns of misuse, such as deepfake videos, cloned-voice phone calls and fake news, along with practical ways to verify what you see and protect your family.

Module 1What is AI? Myths and facts 8 hrs

A plain-language introduction to artificial intelligence, machine learning and generative AI, a short history, and common myths about robots, jobs and machines that think.

Module 2How AI learns from data 10 hrs

Data, patterns and predictions explained through activities such as training a simple image classifier in a free browser tool like Teachable Machine, and why AI makes mistakes.

Module 3AI around you in India 10 hrs

How AI is used in digital payments and fraud alerts, maps and ride apps, online shopping, crop and weather advisories, health screening and language translation, with the benefits and limits of each.

Module 4Using AI assistants confidently 12 hrs

Hands-on practice with ChatGPT, Gemini and Meta AI: asking good questions, drafting letters and applications, translating into Indian languages, learning a new topic and checking the answers.

Module 5Deepfakes, scams and misinformation 10 hrs

How deepfake videos, cloned voices and AI-written messages are used in frauds such as fake emergency calls from relatives and so-called digital arrest calls, and a simple routine to verify before you trust or forward anything.

Module 6Privacy, data rights and responsible AI 10 hrs

What personal data AI apps collect, consent and app permissions, an introduction to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and questions of bias, fairness and copyright.

Module 7AI in study, work and careers 8 hrs

How AI is changing work in offices, schools, banking, retail and agriculture, honest use of AI in education, and the human skills that matter more as a result.

Module 8Awareness project and presentation 10 hrs

Prepare and present an AI awareness guide, poster series or short talk for your family, school, office or community, using what you have learned.

Minimum qualification: Class 10 / Secondary pass; able to read simple English or Hindi
No technical or computer-science background needed
A smartphone or laptop with a stable internet connection for Google Meet (a laptop is helpful for some activities)

Do I need a technical or computer background?

No. The course is designed for people from any background, including students, parents, teachers, homemakers and senior citizens. Everything is explained in plain language with everyday examples, and no coding or mathematics is involved. If you can use WhatsApp and browse the internet, you can follow the course.

Will this course teach me to build AI or to code?

No. This is an awareness course: it helps you understand AI, use common AI assistants safely and explain AI to others. If you later want to build with AI, the Certificate in Generative AI Fundamentals and the Certificate in No-Code AI Automation are natural next steps.

When are the classes held?

Classes are held on weekends, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM IST, live on Google Meet, for 3 months (about 78 hours in total). This suits students and working people who are busy on weekdays. Batch dates and the last date to apply are shown on this page. Classes are taught in English, with Hindi support where needed.

Can I attend from a smartphone?

Yes. Most sessions and activities work on a smartphone with the Google Meet app and a stable connection. A laptop is helpful for a few activities, such as the browser-based model-training exercise and preparing your final presentation, but it is not compulsory.

What if I miss a weekend class?

Attendance is marked in every session, and you need at least 75% attendance to be eligible for the certificate. Each weekend covers a full topic, so plan your weekends ahead; if you do miss a day, go through the learning materials shared for that module on your application status page and bring your questions to the next class.

What is the fee, and what certificate will I receive?

The total fee shown on this page is for the full 3-month programme, covering all live sessions, assessments and the certificate. After you apply, you can pay using the options listed on the Fees page; refunds, if any, follow our Refund and Cancellation Policy. On meeting the attendance and assessment requirements, and after approval, you receive the Certificate in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Awareness and a marksheet from Appsgain Technologies, verifiable online with the certificate number or QR code.
