Overview

About this course

Retail banking is the part of banking most people see: savings accounts, fixed deposits, debit and credit cards, UPI, and loans for a home, a vehicle, education or a family need. This four-month course teaches how these products work, who they suit, and how to explain them clearly and honestly to customers at a branch, on the phone or through digital channels.

You will practise real customer situations — a first-time account holder in a small town, a salaried professional comparing home loans, a senior citizen choosing a deposit, an NRI asking about NRE and NRO accounts — and learn how to handle complaints and help customers stay safe from fraud.

How the course runs

Classes are held live on Google Meet on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so the course fits around a job or college. Every module ends with role-plays and a short quiz, and the course closes with a capstone in which you prepare and present a product guide for one customer segment.

  • Accounts, deposits, cards and digital banking
  • Home, vehicle, personal, education and gold loans
  • Needs-based conversations, ethics and complaint handling
  • Role-plays and a customer-segment capstone

Please note: this is a skill-development course. It is not coaching for bank recruitment exams, and it is not a certification issued or recognised by the RBI, IIBF or any other regulator or bank.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Explain the main retail banking products and match them to customer segments such as students, salaried staff, senior citizens and NRIs
  • Compare savings, salary and deposit products, including interest, charges, minimum balance and deposit insurance
  • Guide customers on debit and credit cards, UPI and mobile banking, including safe-banking habits and fraud reporting
  • Explain eligibility, documents, EMIs and interest-rate options for home, vehicle, personal, education and gold loans
  • Hold a needs-based conversation and recommend suitable products without mis-selling
  • Handle customer complaints using fair-practice norms and the bank and RBI grievance channels
  • Communicate clearly and courteously with customers in person, on the phone and by email

Questions about this course

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about this course.

Why is Retail Banking a weekend course, and what are the timings?

It runs on weekends so that working professionals and college students can join without missing work or classes. Sessions are held live on Google Meet every Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM IST, for 4 months (about 100 hours). The batch dates and the last date to apply are shown on this page. Classes are taught in English, with Hindi support where needed.

How do the customer role-plays work online?

Most weekends include role-plays in which you take turns playing the banker and the customer — for example, opening an account for a first-time customer or answering a home-loan enquiry — and receive feedback from the trainer. Please join with a working camera and microphone.

Will I be able to sell insurance or mutual funds after this course?

You will learn how these products work and how to understand a customer's needs, at an awareness level. Selling insurance or mutual funds requires separate licences or registrations under IRDAI and SEBI/AMFI rules, which this course does not provide.

What if I miss a weekend?

Notes and study material for each module are shared with the batch, and you can ask your doubts in the next session. Because role-plays are assessed, regular attendance matters — at least 75% attendance is required for the certificate.

What is the fee?

The total fee shown on this page is for the full 4-month programme, including all live sessions, assessments and the certificate. Payment options and any applicable taxes are shown on the Fees page, and refunds follow our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Is this an IIBF certification or bank exam coaching?

No. It is a practical retail banking skill course from Appsgain Technologies. It is not coaching for IBPS, SBI or other recruitment exams, the certificate is not issued or recognised by the RBI, IIBF or any bank, and there is no job or placement guarantee.
