Overview

About this course

This programme takes you from no programming experience to building and packaging a working app. You start with how apps actually work and the fundamentals of programming in JavaScript, then build responsive web pages, design screens in Figma, and move to Flutter and Dart to create Android apps from a single codebase.

The second half connects your apps to real data. You call public APIs, store data on the device, and use Firebase for sign-in and a cloud database, with file storage demonstrated. You also see where low-code tools such as FlutterFlow and AI coding assistants speed things up, and where you still need to understand the code yourself. Git and GitHub are used throughout, so your class work builds into a portfolio.

How the course runs

Classes are live on Google Meet three evenings a week, with coding along with the trainer and weekly assignments. The course ends with a capstone app of your choice, for example a tuition attendance tracker, a local shop catalogue or an expense splitter, which you build, test and package as an Android release build.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Explain how mobile and web apps work: front end, back end, APIs and databases
  • Write programs using variables, conditions, loops, functions, arrays and objects in JavaScript
  • Build responsive web pages with HTML and CSS
  • Design simple app screens and user flows in Figma
  • Build multi-screen Android apps with Flutter and Dart, including navigation and state
  • Connect an app to REST APIs and to Firebase Authentication and Firestore
  • Manage code with Git and GitHub, and use AI coding assistants responsibly
  • Test, debug and prepare an Android release build of your own app

Syllabus

10 modules · approximately 150 hours of live training

Module 1How apps work and developer setup 10 hrs
Front end, back end, APIs and databases explained through apps you use every day; installing VS Code, the Flutter SDK and Android Studio; and first steps with Git and GitHub.
Module 2Programming fundamentals with JavaScript 22 hrs
Variables, data types, conditions, loops, functions, arrays and objects, practised through small problems such as a GST bill calculator and a marks report generator.
Module 3Web foundations: HTML, CSS and responsive layout 16 hrs
Page structure, forms, Flexbox and Grid, mobile-first layouts and basic accessibility, ending with a responsive personal portfolio page.
Module 4UI and UX basics with Figma 10 hrs
User flows, wireframes, Material Design components, colour and typography, and turning a design into a clickable prototype.
Module 5Dart and Flutter fundamentals 22 hrs
Dart syntax and classes, Flutter widgets, layouts, lists and forms, navigation between screens and managing state in a small app.
Module 6Working with data: APIs, JSON and local storage 16 hrs
Calling REST APIs, converting JSON into model classes, showing loading and error states, and saving data on the device.
Module 7Firebase backend 18 hrs
Email sign-in with Firebase Authentication, reading and writing Firestore data and basic security rules, plus a demonstration of Cloud Storage uploads, which need Firebase's paid Blaze plan, and of phone (SMS) sign-in, which can incur per-message charges.
Module 8Low-code and AI-assisted development 12 hrs
Building screens quickly in FlutterFlow, using AI coding assistants to explain, review and refactor code, and the risks of shipping code you do not understand.
Module 9Testing, debugging and release 10 hrs
Debugging tools, simple unit and widget tests, app icons and permissions, building an Android release (AAB/APK), and Google Play Console listing and privacy-policy requirements.
Module 10Capstone app project 14 hrs
Plan, build and present your own app with sign-in, data storage and at least one API or Firebase feature, with the code on GitHub.

Questions about this course

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about this course.

I have never written code. Can I really build an app by the end?

Yes, the course is designed for complete beginners. The first part builds your programming and web basics step by step before you start Flutter. Progress depends on regular practice, so plan for 4–6 hours of coding a week outside class in addition to the live sessions. The course ends with a capstone app with sign-in and stored data that you build yourself.

Which languages and tools will I learn?

JavaScript for programming fundamentals, HTML and CSS for the web, Dart with the Flutter framework for mobile apps, and Firebase for sign-in and a cloud database. You will also use VS Code, Android Studio, Git and GitHub, Figma, FlutterFlow and AI coding assistants. Free versions or free plans of these tools are used for your own work. Firebase Cloud Storage needs Firebase's pay-as-you-go Blaze plan, which requires a billing card, and phone (SMS) sign-in can incur per-message charges, so the trainer demonstrates both and they are optional in your own project; email sign-in and Firestore work on the free Spark plan.

Will my app be published on the Google Play Store?

You will prepare an Android release build and learn each step of a Play Console listing, including screenshots, the privacy policy and testing requirements. Publishing is optional and needs your own Google Play developer account, which has a one-time registration fee charged by Google that is not included in the course fee. Building for iPhone needs a Mac with Xcode, and publishing on the App Store needs a paid Apple Developer Program membership, so the course focuses on Android and the web.

What computer do I need?

A Windows, macOS or Linux laptop or desktop with at least 8 GB RAM and about 20 GB of free disk space is recommended for Flutter and Android Studio. If your computer has less memory, you can run your apps on an Android phone connected by USB instead of the emulator. A smartphone or tablet alone is not enough for this course.

How long is the course, and what if I miss a class?

The course runs for 6 months, with about 150 hours of live classes on Google Meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM IST; batch dates and the last date to apply are shown on this page. You need at least 75% attendance for the certificate. If you miss a class, catch up with the learning materials shared for that module on your application status page and bring your questions to the next class. Classes are taught in English, with Hindi support where needed.

What is the fee, and what certificate do I get?

The total fee shown on this page is for the full 6-month programme, covering all live sessions, assessments and the certificate. After you apply, you can pay using the options listed on the Fees page; refunds, if any, follow our Refund and Cancellation Policy. On meeting the attendance and assessment requirements, and after approval, you receive the Certificate in App Development Fundamentals and a marksheet from Appsgain Technologies, verifiable online with the certificate number or QR code. It is a course completion certificate, not a university degree or guarantee of a job.
