Overview

About this course

This five-month programme covers how an e-commerce business really works: choosing what to sell, sourcing it, listing it on marketplaces and on your own website, pricing it so that each order makes money after commissions, shipping and returns, and then bringing in customers. Examples come from categories popular with Indian sellers, such as handloom and handicrafts, packaged food, fashion, beauty and home décor.

You will work on a real or planned product range throughout — researching demand, writing listings, calculating unit economics in Google Sheets and building a store — so the final project is a practical launch plan rather than a theory report.

How the course runs

Classes are held live on Google Meet every weekday evening for 75 minutes. Sessions combine short explanations with walkthroughs of seller onboarding steps, store builders and spreadsheets, followed by tasks you complete for your own product range.

  • Marketplace selling on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho, with an overview of ONDC
  • Your own store on Shopify or WooCommerce, with payments, shipping and store policies
  • Compliance awareness: GST for online sellers, e-commerce consumer rules and product labelling

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Evaluate product ideas using demand research, competition, margins and ease of shipping
  • Find and assess suppliers, manufacturers and wholesale markets, and plan inventory
  • Create product listings with clear photos, titles, descriptions and keywords that follow marketplace guidelines
  • Explain how seller onboarding, fees and policies work on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho
  • Build a basic online store on Shopify or WooCommerce with payments, shipping and store policies
  • Calculate unit economics — commissions, shipping, GST, returns and ad cost — and set profitable prices
  • Plan e-commerce marketing using marketplace ads, Meta Ads, Google Shopping, influencers and WhatsApp
  • Manage orders, returns, cash on delivery and customer service, and track the numbers that matter

Questions about this course

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about this course.

How long is the course, and when are the classes?

The course runs for five months, with live classes on Google Meet every Monday to Friday from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM IST — about 126 hours of live training. Classes are taught in English, with Hindi support where needed. The current batch dates and the last date to apply are shown on this page.

Do I need a product, a GST number or a registered business before joining?

No. You can join with just an idea or a product category in mind; the first modules help you choose and test products. The course explains when registrations such as GST are needed for selling online and how marketplaces handle tax collection, at an awareness level. For decisions about your own business, consult a chartered accountant or tax professional.

Do I have to spend money on stock, a store or ads during the course?

Not to complete the course. You build your practice store on free options — a Shopify development store created with a free Shopify Partner account, or WooCommerce on a free local WordPress install — and listings, pricing sheets and marketing plans can be prepared without buying stock. If you launch for real, inventory, store subscriptions, marketplace fees and advertising are your own business costs and are not part of the course fee. Seller accounts are approved by each marketplace under its own rules, and sales depend on your product, pricing and marketing, so the course cannot guarantee approvals or sales.

What if I miss a class?

Class notes, templates and task briefs are shared with enrolled learners, so you can catch up on what was covered and bring your doubts to the next class. Attendance is recorded for every session, and you need at least 75% attendance across the sessions held to be eligible for the certificate.

What does the fee cover, and how do I pay?

The total fee shown on this page is for the full five-month programme and covers all live sessions, assessments and the certificate. After you apply, you can pay using the payment options listed on the Fees page; please read that page and the Refund and Cancellation Policy before paying.

What certificate will I receive?

Learners who meet the attendance requirement and score at least 50% overall, including the minimum mark in the capstone store launch plan, receive the Certificate in E-Commerce Business from Appsgain Technologies with a marksheet, after review and approval. Anyone can verify it online using the certificate number or QR code. It is a skill-training certificate — not a seller certification from any marketplace, a degree, a licence or a guarantee of sales or employment.
